Thank you for taking the Waukee Parks and Recreation online survey.  While the input period for this survey is now closed, a second survey will be available thru the City of Waukee in the upcoming months to gain additional information for the Comprehensive Parks, Recreation and Open Space Plan. 

The City of Waukee has retained Genus Landscape Architects and PROS Consulting to conduct a Comprehensive Parks, Recreation + Open Space Plan. In essence, the goal of the plan is to create a living document to direct parks and recreation development for the coming years to best meet the needs of Waukee.


The six month planning process started in January 2010 and will involve a variety of stakeholders, including City staff, parks board, city council, private developers, private recreation providers, and youth sports leagues. Additionally, three public open houses will be held to collect feedback from the residents of Waukee. This plan is particularly timely due to Waukee’s growing population and ongoing development opportunities.


Four key areas of focus include:


1. The development of a goal setting and service delivery philosophy for park services and recreation programs.


2. Identification of recreation program constraints and opportunities.


3. Evaluation of current neighborhood and community facilities, needs, and opportunities – for current and future park sites.


4. Evaluation of current and future trails and connections within Waukee.
